Artist's Bio
Sarah Eaton lives, works, and teaches in Portland OR. She received her MFA cum laude from Oregon College of Art and Craft in 2016, and attended the School of the Art institute of Chicago from 2000-2002, and received her BFA degree cum laude from Pacific Northwest college of art in 2005. She has shown her work nationally in galleries in Washington, Vermont, and multiple galleries throughout the Portland Metro Area. As a working artist and educator, Sarah has also worked in the Stop Motion Community as a Scenic Artist (GDT’s Pinochio, In The Know, Tiny Chef) and has worked collaboratively as a Studio Painter for large scale international puppetry projects (Disney, Universal, Wynn Casino, Broadway, and Cirque Du Soleil).
Interested in the hybrid spaces between media, her work is an interplay of painting, fiber, sculpture, and installation, through the use of transparent and layered media and imagery. With an attention to the visual space between the viewer and object/image she evokes emotion through color, essence of landscape, and the subtleties of space, memory and form.
